Afghanistan Roundtable Discussion

On August 31st, 2021, Usanas Foundation organized a Roundtable Discussion on the “Return of Taliban and its Geopolitical Fallouts.” Some of the pressing issues discussed during the discussion involved; Who is responsible for the current problem in Afghanistan? How are the regional stakeholders going to react and get affected by the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul? What impact will the ruinous US withdrawal have on its international standing? What role does Pakistan play in the Afghanistan fiasco, and will it try to capitalize on the Taliban's victory to advance its agenda of proxy war against India?

The eminent speakers of the high-level discussion consisted of Ambassador Anil Trigunayat- Distinguished Fellow at VIF and Former Indian Ambassador to Jordan, Libya and Malta; Dr Michael Rubin- Former Pentagon Official and Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Association; Ms Meena Nezami- Mental Health Women’s Rights Activist and Founder and President of GirlUp Afghanistan; Mr Christopher Alexander- Former Diplomat and Former Member of the Conservative Party of Canada; Ambassador Gautam Mukhopadhaya- Former Ambassador to Syria, Afghanistan, and Myanmar, and lastly Abhinav Pandya- Founder and CEO of the Usanas Foundation. The event began with the inaugural speech from His Highness, Shri Arvind Singh Mewar, Maharaja of Udaipur.
